An often overlooked nation, Bangladesh ranks eight in the world in terms of total population, ahead of military powerhouse Russia and just behind South American power Brazil. Around 165 million people call Bangladesh home. Total military personnel is estimated to be just under 7 million people, this being buoyed by the sizeable paramilitary arm which contributes around 6.8 million souls.

Modernization has been key to keeping the Bangladesh Navy a viable fighting force going into the middle of the decade. This includes purchases from China and South Korea, giving the service a pair of Type 035G attack submarines and BNS Bangabandhu (F25) as a guided-missile frigate. The frigate fleet numbers five total hulls followed by six corvettes and a collection of patrol vessels rounding out inherent capabilities.
